Lip Fillers at Ciao Bella in Bristol
Are you interested in having lip fillers in Bristol? If so, then Ciao Bella Aesthetics is the South West’s Leading clinic for Lip Enhancement procedures. Lip fillers are a popular procedure for enhancing the natural volume of your lips. If you want your lips to appear natural, yet fuller, then our nurses are trained in a number of techniques to improve the profile of the lower face.
Hyaluronic Acid is the base ingredients in dermal filler. It is used to provide hydration, volume and lubrication to soft tissue. The mouth is numbed first, then your nurse will inject the product to suit the shape of your mouth and lips. This is usually a comfortable procedure and you are able to opt for a local nerve infiltration, numbing cream and an ice pack if you like.
Hyaluronic Acid fillers are safe for use by appropriately trained medical professionals, there is little down time with the procedure however we do appreciate how variable individuals are so we do recommend a separate consultation to discuss your needs, medical history and any concerns or questions you may have. This isn’t compulsory but we have found our patients feel more at ease meeting us first! If you do opt for a consultation and decide the treatment is something you wish to go ahead with during the same visit them this is usually OK, time depending.
The main concerns that people often have with their lips is their volume, shape, and overall structure. As we age we see volume deplete, lines known as ’smokers lines’ surrounding the mouth appear and lines in the corner of the mouth point downwards causing the appearance of ‘looking sad’. Hyaluronic acid fillers work to correct all of these lip elements. Following treatment, the results should remain for 6-12 months. Review of your results is recommended 4-6 months following treatment, during this appointment you are able to decide along with your practitioner whether or not you wish to continue maintaining the volume, or adding in different treatment areas that will compliment the mouth and provide overall better balance to the face and ageing process.
The term “lip fillers” is a generic term. When you talk with our nurses they will recommend certain name brand lip filler products. The Clinics choice of dermal filler is from the Juvederm Range, produced by Allergan, Juvederm is the world's market leader with long lasting and reliable results. The options for dermal filler are usually decided by your practitioner as they will understand the individual properties of the gel and how it is going to compliment your lips. There is full opportunity for questions during your visit to us so please don't worry! A consultation is carried out prior to EVERY procedure.

Frequently asked QUESTIONS LIP FILLERS
The lip fillers that we use at Ciao Bella are made from hyaluronic acid or HA. HA is also a natural component of our own skin which we produce and metabolise daily; think of it like the body’s built in moisturiser. It attracts water to our skin, and this is what gives us plump, youthful-looking skin. Sadly though, as we age, we simply don’t produce as much natural HA ourselves so skin can appear lacklustre and we start to notice lines and wrinkles and skin sagging, which is also due to a slow down in the production of new collagen and elastin in the skin as we get older.
By using injectable products with hyaluronic acid which has been scientifically created into thicker gels so they last anywhere from 3 to 12 months, depending on the brand and type of product used in specific areas, we can put back lost HA, strengthen the skin, rehydrate it and restore that youthful appearance.
Using HA-based lip fillers, we can add volume back to the face, recontour areas and enhance features. During your consultation we can discuss the differences between the product ranges offered by Restylane® and Juvéderm® and advise on the best product choices for the area being treated.
At Ciao Bella we offer the 8-point non-surgical face lift using Juvéderm® fillers, tear trough treatment to improve the under-eye area and dark circles, lip enhancement, plumping and augmentation, non-surgical nose jobs or rhinoplasty, facial contouring of the cheeks, chin and jawline, as well as skin strengthening and hydration using skin booster products.
Your suitability for lip fillers will be determined during a free consultation with one of our registered nurses and injectable specialists where we will discuss your desires and expectations from treatment. A full medical history will also be taken to determine if there are any health concerns or medication which mean that you are not suitable for treatment. We take before and after photographs as well so that we can track the progress and outcomes of your treatment.
Pregnant and breast-feeding women are not suitable for this treatment.
If you have a known allergy to hyaluronic acid, you will also not be suitable for lip filler treatment with the products that we use.
We use filler products from the Restylane brand, including Skin Boosters, plus the Juvéderm brand, including ULTRA and Voluma, Volift and Volbella from the Juvéderm Vycross range. All these products have a long history of use in Europe and the USA so you can be assured of their safety profile and a multitude of clinical studies to back up their effectiveness.
All our cosmetic injectable treatments are performed by our qualified team of three registered nurses, two of whom are also independent nurse prescribers who can provide the required clinical prescribing should an emergency or complication arise. At Ciao Bella, we feel that it is important to emphasise the fact that we operate from a medically-led clinic who have the skills, training and experience to provide medical aesthetic treatments such as lip fillers.
All the products that we use also contain 3% lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic product, the same thing that you may receive when you visit the dentist for a filling. This means that as we inject the lip fillers, the local anaesthetic is also injected so there is minimal to no pain or discomfort during treatment. For nervous or needle-phobic patients we can also top this up with a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream which is applied a short while before we start treatment.
Depending on the treatment being undertaken, we also sometimes use blunt micro-cannulas instead of needles which can offer a less painful treatment for larger areas or lips.
You should expect some mild swelling after a lip filler treatment, particularly in the lips, which will disappear after 24-72 hours. There may be a small amount of bruising at the points of needle entry. You can return to your normal activities immediately following treatment and will not need to take time off work. You will be given advice on appropriate aftercare to avoid the risk of side effects.
Side effects and complications from dermal fillers are not common but can include infections or allergic reactions, characterised by swelling or the formation of lumps, called nodules or granulomas. Should you experience any side effects post-treatment, immediately or delayed, our teams of nurses follow established protocols for complication management which means that we can prescribe appropriate medication and dissolve the hyaluronic acid filler in the event of a problem.
Hyaluronic acid is eventually metabolised naturally by your body so you will require repeat treatments to maintain the results achieved. Depending on the area treated and the type of product used, dermal fillers can last between 3 and 12 months before a repeat is recommended. Most treatments require maintenance every 6 months to make sure that the correction is optimal.
The price of lip fillers will depend on the area being treated and the quantity (mls) of hyaluronic acid product required to achieve the desired results.
Consultations are available to discuss dermal filler treatment with one of our registered nurses. If you are interested in this treatment and want to know more, please book an appointment.
