Frequently asked QUESTIONS TEAR TROUGH FILLERS
As you age, or introduce different lifestyle factors the anatomy of the eye can lose volume. This will make the area look darker and hollowed out. This results in many people looking exhausted and older than their age.
Dermal filler is used to restore lost volume and add to the important structures such as muscle and fat under the skin. By doing so, the area will look naturally fuller allowing light to bounce off the area, rather than be absorbed creating the dark hollow appearance that you may see.
The treatment lasts for fifteen minutes and you will see a difference right after the first treatment. However, the most effective results will be seen once your treatment is complete.
This is not a permanent solution because fillers dissolve over time. You can benefit from this treatment for six months to two years depending on a few factors.
For example, your age, activity, type of skin, and lifestyle will determine how long the result will last for you.
Using HA-based dermal fillers, we can add volume back to the face, recontour areas and enhance features. During your consultation we can discuss the differences between the product ranges offered by Restylane® and Juvéderm® and advise on the best product choices for the area being treated.
At Ciao Bella we offer the 8-point non-surgical face lift using Juvéderm® fillers, tear trough treatment to improve the under-eye area and dark circles, lip enhancement, plumping and augmentation, non-surgical nose jobs or rhinoplasty, facial contouring of the cheeks, chin and jawline, as well as skin strengthening and hydration using skin booster products.
Your suitability for dermal fillers will be determined during a free consultation with one of our registered nurses and injectable specialists where we will discuss your desires and expectations from treatment. A full medical history will also be taken to determine if there are any health concerns or medication which mean that you are not suitable for treatment. We take before and after photographs as well so that we can track the progress and outcomes of your treatment.
Pregnant and breast-feeding women are not suitable for this treatment.
If you have a known allergy to hyaluronic acid, you will also not be suitable for dermal filler treatment with the products that we use.
We use filler products from the Restylane brand, including Skin Boosters, plus the Juvéderm brand, including ULTRA and Voluma, Volift and Volbella from the Juvéderm Vycross range. All these products have a long history of use in Europe and the USA so you can be assured of their safety profile and a multitude of clinical studies to back up their effectiveness.
All our cosmetic injectable treatments are performed by our qualified team of three registered nurses, two of whom are also independent nurse prescribers who can provide the required clinical prescribing should an emergency or complication arise. At Ciao Bella, we feel that it is important to emphasise the fact that we operate from a medically-led clinic who have the skills, training and experience to provide medical aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers.
Many people hate the idea of anything being near their eyes, let alone an injection. However, this treatment does not cause any pain so you don’t need to worry about that.
One thing that you need to keep in mind is that there are many causes for undereye problems such as:
- Poor sleeping patterns
- Toxins in the body
- Sinus infections
- Poor diet
This can impact the health of your tear trough in the long run. This is why it is important to take care of all these factors as well. The tear trough filler treatment will do its magic and work wonders for you.
However, in the long run it is important that you take care of these aspects of your life as well. Paired with the treatment, this will impact the quality of your tear trough and you will see even more effective results.
You should expect some mild swelling after a dermal filler treatment, particularly in the lips, which will disappear after 24-72 hours. There may be a small amount of bruising at the points of needle entry. You can return to your normal activities immediately following treatment and will not need to take time off work. You will be given advice on appropriate aftercare to avoid the risk of side effects.
Side effects and complications from dermal fillers are not common but can include infections or allergic reactions, characterised by swelling or the formation of lumps, called nodules or granulomas. Should you experience any side effects post-treatment, immediately or delayed, our teams of nurses follow established protocols for complication management which means that we can prescribe appropriate medication and dissolve the hyaluronic acid filler in the event of a problem.
Hyaluronic acid is eventually metabolised naturally by your body so you will require repeat treatments to maintain the results achieved. Depending on the area treated and the type of product used, dermal fillers can last between 3 and 12 months before a repeat is recommended. Most treatments require maintenance every 6 months to make sure that the correction is optimal.
The price of dermal fillers will depend on the area being treated and the quantity (mls) of hyaluronic acid product required to achieve the desired results.
Consultations are available to discuss dermal filler treatment with one of our registered nurses. If you are interested in this treatment and want to know more, please book an appointment.
